Doc Holliday was a dentist whom necessity had made a gambler; a gentleman whom disease had made a frontier vagabond; a philosopher whom life had made a caustic wit; a long, lean fellow nearly dead with consumption and at the same time the most skillful gambler and the nerviest, speediest, deadliest man with a six-gun I ever knew. So says famous wild west Sheriff Wyatt Earp, of his long time friend and compadre, Doc Holliday. What he didn't know was, beneath Doc's rough exterior lay a heart of gold, a true romantic, whose long time love affair with Katie Elder became legendary in its own right. In this book, author David Boyer places a whole new and refreshing spin on the legend of Doc and Kate. 1. A true Southern gentleman, General Snowden presents a humble account of his life's accomplishments - and they are many. In 2015, General Snowden was inducted into Florida's Veterans Hall of Fame in recognition of his service to his country and his advocacy for elder Floridians. In 2016, he was presented two awards for lifetime public service, one from the Secretary of Defense and one from the Secretary of the Navy. This volume, which can serve as a companion to the oral history of General Snowden's military career (History Division, U.S. Marine Corps, 2011), is a gift to his children, grandchildren, and future generations. It is also a tribute to his beloved Marine Corps and to all the citizens of the United States. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Daniel F Purcell. It's been a long time since Jane Havens, Mistress of Havenswood, felt the joy and promise of by-gone days when her family home, Havenswood, was a thriving and powerful farming estate. Together with her elder brother Cole, who drowns his sorrow in alcohol, Jane does what she can to lead the fading estate through the hard times that fell upon the family after their father, a Union Army Colonel, died shortly after the Civil War. Jane and Cole try to raise their little brother, Henry, a wild young boy with no direction, no manners and no one to marshal his considerable natural abilities into a productive, young gentleman. But when his new governess, Emma Stiles, arrives, the whole household goes into shock as Henry shapes up, Cole doubles down on the amount of drink he consumes to drown his failures, and Jane Havens falls madly in love with her little brother's governess. Then the trouble begins. Accidents begin to happen to the residents of Havenswood - incidents that increase in seriousness and danger. Some within the household point fingers at Emma Stiles. Jane will not believe her new lover has anything to do with the terrifying accidents until a chance visit by a new doctor in town raises the specter that Emma Stiles may not be quite who she seems. As the reality of Emma's tortured soul descends upon Havenswood and Jane, it is clear that the demons of vengeance can only be saved by love and forgiveness. Or is it too late for forgiveness and too late for love? Set in the tumultuous decade after the Civil War, Passion for Vengeance is a gothic romance tale of betrayal, revenge, love and forgiveness. 1. Language: English. Narrator: T. S. R. Carlson. Presenting My Man Jeeves and Right Ho, Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse. These classics are part of the P. G. Wodehouse Collection and The Great Books Series by Golding Books.Jeeves presents the ideal image of the gentleman, being highly competent, dignified, and respectful. Incredibly knowledgeable about topics ranging from horse racing to history, Jeeves has an encyclopedic knowledge of literature and academic subjects. He frequently quotes from Shakespeare and the romantic poets. Well-informed about members of the British aristocracy thanks to the club book of the Junior Ganymede Club, he also seems to have a considerable number of useful connections among various servants. Jeeves uses his knowledge and connections to solve problems inconspicuously. About the author: Pelham Grenville Wodehouse was born in Guildford, Surrey, in 1881. His father Henry Ernest Wodehouse was a magistrate resident in the British colony of Hong Kong, and his mother Eleanor (née Deane) was the daughter of the schoolmaster and author Reverend John Bathurst Deane. His mother was visiting her sister when Wodehouse was born prematurely, and after his baptism (and being named after his godfather Lieutenant Colonel Pelham George von Donop - yet his nickname came to be “Plum”) the two sailed for Hong Kong. Raised by a Chinese nurse along with his elder brothers Peveril and Armine, the siblings returned to England when Wodehouse was two and were cared for by an English nanny in a house adjoining that of Eleanor’s parents’ (a then-normal arrangement for colony families). Whatever the effect of the distance, Wodehouse developed a love for reading and dreaming up stories and described his childhood as a happy one. He attended Malvern House Preparatory School in Kent, as his father planned for him to have a career in the Royal Navy, but poor eyesight prevented him from pursuing this (he later parodied Malvern House’s austerity by having character Be 1. Lady Amelia Fitzwilliam is approaching her 30th year, and her umpteenth season without selecting a husband. Her elder brother is so concerned over this state of affairs that he's tripled her already obscene dowry in hopes that the coming season will finally see her leg-shackled. Opposed to the establishment of marriage to begin with, Amelia has no intention of giving up her freedom - or the taboo predilections she engages in behind closed doors. After all, what lord of the town would submit himself to a woman who enjoys subjecting her bed-mates to pain and domination for life? Since she has yet to meet such a man, Amelia contents herself with the long life of spinsterhood stretching out before her. Michael Darling is a simple gentleman farmer, satisfied to live out his days rusticating in the country. He has no reason to run off to London searching for a bride - except for the matter of his dire financial straits. Debt has bled his coffers dry, leaving him with only one option: quickly find and wed a woman with an enormous dowry. When he encounters Lady Amelia Fitzwilliam in a gaming hell, the lady's reputation precedes her. A wager made over a card game will put her within his grasp, but the discovery of her peculiar tastes in the bedroom has him wondering if they could ever make a good match. Soon, Michael will realize that Amelia's domination appeals to him more than he would have ever dreamed, causing him to fall rapidly under her spell. However, a dark past comes with Amelia's tendencies, making her hard to woo and even harder to love. Never one to back down from a challenge, Michael sets out to untangle the convoluted puzzle Amelia presents and, hopefully, win her heart. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Simon Philips. The Country House Courtship

Jane Austen Lite. The language rings of Jane Austen, yet is much friendlier to the modern reader. DINA SLEIMAN, Author of Dauntless What are wealthy sisters for, if not to help younger sisters marry well? Five years have passed since Ariana Forsythe married the dark and dashing Phillip Mornay. Now her younger sister Beatrice is ready for a romance of her own. Who better to help her get it than her fashionable elder sister? But the Mornays are happily embedded in domestic life at their elegant country estate, and Beatrice despairs of ever getting a societal debut. When two eligible men appear on the scene, surely one of them must be the answer to all her hopes. Two handsome gentlemen, one dark secret, one pretty girl and a huge country estate--can a country house courtship like no other be far behind? Delightful read. So Jane Austen-esque! Burkard really knows her period and has a talent for making the characters sound like they are from the era. RUTH AXTELL MORREN, Author, The Making of a Gentleman Linore Rose Burkard won a place on my list of new favorite authors with this book. It's a delightful story, well-researched, and packed with tongue-in-cheek humor that puts the reader in the head of the author as the narrator. MICHELLE RAYBURN, speaker and writer This is book 3 in this series, but you don't need the other two to fall in love with this story. Burkard has an amazing talent to write a book with just enough details to get the stories that happened before without spoiling them if you want to go back and read them. If you have read the other two you'll be pleasantly surprised that there isn't a ton of repetition of what you already know...The Country House Courtship is pure delight. DIANA LESIRE BRANDMEYER, Author of Hearts on the Road Linore Rose Burkard once again delivers a Regency romance that all Jane Austen fans will love. Her richly described scenes and well developed characters transport the reader into 1818 England... This is an emotional page-turner that is well suited for book club discussion groups as well as an enjoyable personal read with a good cup of English tea. Don't miss this one! SANDI ANDREWS, Book Club Coordinator With much enthusiasm, I enjoyed this third story in the Regency Romance series by Linore Rose Burkard. The values and morals of the main characters are very refreshing. We are offered an uplifting story with romance, adventure and mystery. I feel as comfortable for my young teen daughter to read this selection as I am for my set-in-her-ways grandmother. I recommend this book to fans that enjoy Jane Austen and the Regency time period...Well done, Linore! KELLI GLESIGE I didn't really like this book when I first started, but really, really liked it by the time I ended it. I didn't want it to end. ...Beatrice was really annoying. And I never liked Mr. O'Brien. Two very annoying characters so how would I get through this book? I almost gave up... but I'm glad I didn't. They are annoying because well, some people just are (but never moi), and they grow and quickly I forgot how much I really didn't want this story to be about Beatrice. The book is funny and even smacks a little of one of my fav Regency period authors named Georgette Heyer. She was fantastic with quirks and had brilliant humor, and this book felt similar to her style. KINDLE CUSTOMER New Edition! NEW DIALOGUE, A PERIOD RECIPE IN THE BACK, AND A READER'S REGENCY GLOSSARY!
